Grounded Nutrition provides nutrition therapy to all people 18 and older who are seeking nutrition support.

I love to work with people who

  • Are experiencing disordered eating

  • Feel fed up with dieting

  • Are recovering from an eating disorder

  • Are stepping down from a higher level of eating disorder care

  • Have never had space to talk about food and body pain with anyone

  • Want weight-neutral medical nutrition therapy

  • Are seeking body image or body liberation support

  • Feel motivated to dive in!

  • Are part of the LGBTQIA+ community

Grounded Nutrition is not the right fit for you if

  • It is not ethical or safe for me to work with folks who are not medically stable given that I provide outpatient services. Meeting once or even twice a week is not sufficient to meet your needs. If this is you, feel welcome to reach out to learn about other care options that would provide you with a greater level of support. I am happy to provide you with a referral!

  • I do not provide weight loss services. Grounded Nutrition operates from a Health at Every Size approach meaning that we will focus on your health and healing goals without centering weight loss. This being said, there is plenty of room to talk about your desire for weight loss, your body sadness, or body image distress- fatphobia is real and it makes sense that this may be on your mind.

  • In quotations because you and our body are not broken! Also, this work is only possible if you bring your active engagement, focus and curiosity to the table. If you are feeling unsure or not ready for nutrition therapy, I see you and send you care. Feel welcome to check out some resources to explore and heal at your own pace such as my Writing & Resources page or my Book Shelf.

FAQ

  • Absolutely! Whether you have a diagnosis or not, I welcome you. Feel free to schedule your free consultation now.

  • Earlier in my career, I worked for a private practice that accepted insurance. The rate I was paid required me to maintain a caseload of 30-35 clients to make a livable income in Seattle. It felt like I could choose either a sustainable caseload and low income, or a sustainable income and burnout. Ultimately I did feel burned out. I relate to what therapist Cahn Tran, MSW, LICSW shares his in depth article on this topic. Though being a RD is unique from being a therapist, there is a lot of crossover I see in terms of the expense to become licensed, the cost of continued education, and the low rate of insurance reimbursement when in network. I recommend giving it a read if you would like to learn more about the behind the scenes of being private practice provider and small business owner.

  • Yes! There are handicapped parking spots available, handicap accessible restrooms nearby, and a ramp to the area we will sit.

  • Please reach out to me via email at sydney@grounded-nutrition.com or my contact page to see if we can find a time that works for you.

  • Just yourself. Please dress in clothes that will keep you comfortably warm or cool depending on the weather. On sunny days you may want to wear sunscreen and bring a water bottle. I have an umbrella for you to use in case of rain.

  • In most cases, I will be ready to meet rain or shine. We can use umbrellas or the covered seating area when it rains. In the case of extreme cold or heat, we may choose to hold sessions virtually via telehealth or phone call. If this is the case, I will reach out in advance to discuss switching to virtual.

  • Coming across someone you know is a possibility. Park-goers may walk by, see us together, or interact with us. At our first session we can discuss how you would like to handle someone potentially seeing us or saying hello.

  • I primarily meet clients outside. However if you would like to work with me and are unable to meet at Woodland Park, please reach out. I accommodate some telehealth appointment requests.
